Home oxygen therapy is prescribed to over 1.5 million Americans at an annual cost of more than $2.9 billion, with cost increasing by 12–13% per year. An evidence-based clinical practice guideline on home oxygen therapy for adults with chronic lung disease was published in 2020 by a multidisciplinary panel of experts and a patient representative. A comprehensive systematic review of the literature with resulting data synthesis was performed to address the key questions for clinical recommendations. This summary provides key takeaway points for practicing clinicians.
