While ICU telemedicine has become increasingly common, the growth of virtual care in other areas of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine has been slower. COVID-19 placed unprecedented pressure on health systems to rapidly embrace virtual care delivery. This session will examine the evolving landscape of telemedicine, virtual care, and virtual patient and provider education, with a focus on practical lessons learned. Sessions will examine both outpatient and inpatient-based interventions and will review innovations from the pre to post-COVID era. A particular focus will be placed on the role of technology in addressing, but also potentially increasing, health disparities.

CME credits and/or Certificates of Completion are not provided for this session.

1- Define strategies for how health systems can deploy virtual care can to address inpatient and outpatient care challenges in the COVID-19 era

2- Improve the quality of provider education and communication using virtual platforms, including home self-management for chronic disease and trainee education
